SNY: Yankees must avoid a June swoon

When the New York Yankees entered the month of May, many around baseball were asking if the club would be sellers at the trade deadline. Yes, three months ahead of the deadline, the Yankees had played so poorly that some were ready to throw the towel in on the season.

As May began, I wrote that the Yankees needed to have a strong turnaround or else the season could go to waste. They showed improvement for a time, but faltered some as the month concluded. Was the performance better than April was? Absolutely. Was it enough to quell the sell-off talk? Hardly.
