SNY: Yanks lose as Girardi, from clubhouse sticks with tradition over reality

The New York Yankees are desperate for wins, so should it matter at this point if the opportunities come on the road? Joe Girardi thinks so.

Sticking with the traditional yet inane thought process that using a team's closer on the road only happens when the team has the lead, Girardi's decision to use Johnny Barbato to start the 10th inning and wait to use Andrew Miller until there was a runner on third base and no outs, helped lead to a miserable loss.

(Despite getting ejected earlier in the game, Girardi was still calling the shots from the clubhouse, as all managers are wont to do after they've been tossed.)
